Lesson 1 Blog Entry: 1.2.1
Write a blog entry from the perspective of the person you role-played earlier. Use this response as a springboard and find a song that expresses your feelings. Include the song and the lyrics and a brief explanation of the connection.

Journal writing assignment In your journal, write about an experience where you or someone you know was the victim of another person’s irresponsible behaviour. How did you feel? How did the person who offended you feel? Did you forgive that person? Why? or Write about a situation where you acted irresponsibility and hurt someone. How did you feel about your actions? What did you do afterwards? Has this experience affected your current attitude? Why? find a picture that illustrates your feelings

Journal writing assignment In your journal, describe the qualities a person needs to be able to handle an emergency situation. How many of these qualities do you possess? How are these qualities affected by alcohol or other drug use? Do people put themselves at greater risk of injury when using alcohol or other drugs? Find some stats about driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

In your journal, describe one example of how the media has attempted to influence people either to quit smoking or to avoid starting in the first place. What attitudes or issues is the media addressing in these campaigns? How is the media trying to change the “image” of smoking? Do these advertisements have any affect on you, your friends, your parents or smokers in general? Overall, do you feel these media campaigns are effective? Why or why not? Include an advertisement that depicts smoking and comment on it.

How does it affect relationships with your peers? How does it relate to your self-confidence? Which of the characteristics is the least relevant to you? Why? Is this a characteristic that you could further develop? Find a metaphor that illustrates resiliency and compare the two.

- consider how strengthening protective factors and decreasing risk factors can make a difference for themselves and others ·
- acknowledge characteristics of resiliency that they possess ·
- initiate a shift in thinking—focusing on personal strengths as opposed to deficits

- reflect on their personal response to change
- identify examples of change, life transitions and the implications of turning 18 ·
- establish personal goals for the next five years ·
- consider the impact of ATODG \(alcohol, tobacco, other drugs and gaming) on personal goal achievement ·
- consider how ATODG could affect personal goal achievement ·
- assert opinions about issues related to ATODG
